In other news, I survived my job interview yesterday. The person who was supposed to do it was sick, and it seemed that none of the 3 people who interviewed me knew what they were doing.
The lab itself was 99% automated, so the job would be mostly putting samples in machines and doing quality control and maintaining the machines. Also, since it's a hospital lab that has to be open 24/7, the shifts can be at awkward times, including 4 night shifts per month, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Congrats on getting through the job interview! Do you know if you have the job, or do you have to wait for confirmation?

I have to wait for the person who was away sick to be un-sick because she's the one who makes the actual decisions, but I'm not entirely sure I could handle the stress of irregular hours and night shifts (considering I can't drink coffee to wake me up, being sleep-deprived while handling potentially contaminated blood and tissue samples is... inadvisable.)

Irregular shifts and especially night shifts are more stress than most people believe, simply because humans aren't really built for that. Some people can put that away no problem, but it's definitely something to keep in mind. Especially if you're mentally ill (I'm bipolar and officially banned from working irregular shifts and nights/late evenings because of it).

Maybe it's a good thing you get some more time to think it over.
